On July 17, 2006, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake off the coast of central Java created a tsunami that struck the Indonesian coastline with waves that ran up more than 20 m locally. Andy joined an International Tsunami Survey Team led by Hermann Fritz to study the sediments deposited by the waves.
