music traditions from Europe and the United States.

Similar to the Music as a World Phenomenon, this course allows deeper
discussion of musical principles and increased participation with in-class
music performances.
Description: This course introduces the stylistic periods of European
and American art music from cultural and historical perspectives. Listening and first-hand observation is
emphasized.
Students: Non-music major undergraduates.
Class Size: Between ten and one hundred students depending on the
semester.
Duties: Design and
instruct entire course. Have included
field trips to open rehearsals of the Cleveland Orchestra.
Description:
Advise a student on a research topic and evaluate the final project.

Description: This course introduces the stylistic periods of European
