KODAK EKTANAR LENS
Ca 1940’s
– 1980’s????
Adding thorium oxide to glass results in glass with a
high index of refraction combined with low dispersion. Many high
quality lenses made from WWII through the 1980’s contained thorium.
Thorium lenses were used in military, industrial, and consumer products.
Only the one lens on this camera, the Kodak wide
angle Ektanar 6.5mm f/1.9 lens, is radioactive. |
