Does anybody >know if Je is the Jazz Squad trumpeter???? I just heard KW's Jazz Squad perform two tunes on NPR's "Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know." She and the band sounded great! Maybe someone else will recall the first song--the second was "Yesterdays" and it was sultry! The audience was surprisingly enthusiastic; you could almost feel their affection and support through those little car speakers. Jimbo and Stu Cole were the only other Zippers playing with her today. The combo included a pianist, a saxophonist and a trombone player. Did I miss anyone? I've got to admit, I did miss Ken and Tom's sax licks. The Jazz Squad instrumental breaks definitely sounded different from the Zippers, which I guess is intentional. Katherine allowed as how the Jazz Squad plays more modern music than the Zippers, (in this case, a '40's tune). Michael Feldman observed that much ado had been made about KW's singing like Buddy Holly. (It was good for a chuckle.) Kat said she'd "tried to stop," but that was just how she sings. Can anyone add to this? More impressions, the identity of the first song, or whether there were other players? The one on the bargain case seemed a little strange, so I looked closer. Strangely, it was in a normal jewel case! I didn't buy it, so I didn't see how the innards were preserved. It was only $6. I also saw Hot over there. What's up with this? I haven't seen these discs anywhere else since. If it wasn't for me, you would have actually had to pay $14.99 and not have the $3 discount i gave you. And that guy was kinda cute anyway. I have been just jivin' to the CD. It's really really enjoyable...yesterday i had to drive a lot, and i just left the CD on repeat....really relaxed, feel-good jazziness. If you have the means, i highly recommend picking one up. Subject: Squirrel Nut Zippers: the music, the candy, the lawsuit Hello SSN. I am a devout Squirrel Nut Zippers -- the band -- fan. I saw their video on MTV when it debuted a couple years ago and now own almost every CD of theirs. The point is, if it weren't for your anti-SNZ (the band) stance and pending lawsuit, I -- and potentially thousands of others -- would be buying your candy. It's not like calling a band Milky Way or Hershey Kiss; people become interested in the CANDY when they hear of the BAND. You could probably be making a LOT of money if you capitalized on this situation. Consider the potentials: selling the candy at concerts or through mail order. Or maybe by having promotions -- "One lucky 5-cent candy sends you on an all-expense paid trip to see, and meet, the Zippers!" "Collect the five different wrappers and mail them in for a $2 rebate on any SNZ release!" And that would lead to greater awareness and good press for Southern Style. You see, you have nothing to gain by this lawsuit, and everything to lose. I would be interested to hear your POV as well -- considering I hear all my news on this suit from the band and fellow fans, maybe I'm missing something. In case you haven't seen it yet, see http://www.snzippers.com (which is run by the saxophone player in the group). - -Koby Chodosh (a.k.a.
