Videography Basics Project 2 Shot Composition The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your ability to shoot well-composed video pictures. Create and shoot a slate for your videotape (your name, project name and number, due date). Find an interesting location indoors or outdoors. Shoot 10 different but related shots at that location. Each shot should be on the screen for about 20 seconds. Using rules of good composition, show a variety of shot sizes and camera angles. Include some examples of the different composition guidelines discussed in class. Do NOT record any music or narration unless it is a normal part of the scene. Remember to use the camera controls correctly to keep video quality high. Remember to cue the tape to the slate before turning it in. Turn in two pieces of paperwork with your project: 1. Create a shot list, which is a numbered list of the shots on your tape with a brief phrase describing the content of each shot. For example, wide shot of the Student Center Plaza. 2. Write a short critique like the one you did for project 1.
