This set dance is from County Mayo, Ireland. | |
Swing in ceili hold in Figure 1 and waltz hold in Figure 2. | |
Chain: Low follow -- With a waist-level hold for all contacts, ladies give right hands in | |
the center, dance to and give left hands to the opposite gent (who has danced into | |
his partner's position); couples dance around one another (no arch) and the ladies | |
dance to home without chaining again in the center. | |
Sevens: With weight on the leading foot, dance in: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 and change to the other | |
leading foot2, out: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 and change to the other leading foot2. When crossing | |
over, the sevens pattern is danced twice (14 steps) dancing the same direction (four bars). | |
A down-2-3 step is to be danced for Figures One and Two; an oridinary reel step (lift-2-3-4) | |
is to be danced for Figure Three. | |
First side is left of the first top couple. | |
Throughout the set, gents dance forward on the left foot and ladies begin | |
forward on the right foot. | |
Bar counts (quantities of measures) for patterns are shown in bold. | |
The total bar count for each Figure includes an eight-bar introduction of music. | |
In 1989 dancers learned of the existence of Figure Four; however, | |
documentation is unavailable. | |
Documentation is based upon the Derradda Set having been danced in 2004 at North | |
Olmsted, Ohio USA and Toronto, Canada. | |
