    This set is from County Kerry, Ireland. In the past, the dancers and musicians in and
              around Killorglin and Caragh Lake just called this the POLKA SET.
    Swing in waltz hold.
    Gents dance forward on the left foot and ladies begin forward on the right foot.
    Bar counts (quantities of measures) for patterns are shown in bold.
    The total bar count for each Figure includes an eight-bar introduction of music.
    First side couple is on the left of the first top couple.

  SET FORMATION   FIGURE 1 -- POLKAS (120 BARS)
Dance an ordinary polka step (down-2-3).
All couples: R E P E A T " M A R K E R " back the lady quarterhouse :
          take waltz hold and dance to the next position on the right (gents dance
          forward and ladies dance backward — back the lady)2;
          dance one clockwise revolution in-place2;
          repeat the preceding four bars three times, ending at original homes12;
Top couples: pinwheel (star) clockwise with the right hands8;
dance at home in waltz hold (two clockwise revolutions)8;
ladies chain :
          ladies give right hands in the center and dance on to the opposite gent
          (who has danced into his partner's place); couples take left hands
          (or forearms) and dance anticlockwise around one another once (no arch);
          ladies again take right hands in the center then dance to-place, each
          beside her original partner8;
house each other in waltz hold8.
All couples: repeat from   R E P E A T " M A R K E R "   with side couples leading at the pinwheel48.
back the lady quarterhouse as in Figure One; gents stamp left feet on the

full house in waltz hold, doubling the final two bars8;
as gents stand in-place, ladies walk (1-2, 1-2, 1-2) outside the set to the
          next position on the right8;
