This non-progressive, two-hand, 16-bar
dance is danced around the perimeter of the |
dance floor. (At some sites, the dance is danced free in the available
space while |
others dance another fling rhythm pattern.). Begin
holding inside (closest) hands. |
This is but one of multiple versions of
the barn dance. Some versions are for sets-of- |
dancers
(usually four couples) and some are two-hand (for one couple). Though |
patterns
have a defined length in bars of music, the quantity of times the pattern |
is
danced is usually variable. |
The line of
dance is anticlockwise. |
Gents dance forward on the left foot
and ladies initially dance on the right foot. |
Bar counts (quantities of measures) for patterns are
shown in bold. |
