AGON struggle, contest

agonist, one involved in a struggle or competition
agonize, to suffer extreme pain or great anguish
agony, the suffering of intense physical or mental pain
antagonize, to incur the dislike of
antagonist, one who opposes and contends against another; an adversary
protagonist, the main character in a drama or other literary work

 

ANGEL messenger

angel, an immortal, spiritual being attendant upon God; a guardian spirit or guiding influence; a kind or loving person
angelic, like an angel
angelica, any of various herbs of the genus Angelica in the parsley family
archangel, a high-ranking angel
evangelical, of, relating to, or in accordance with the Christian gospel
evangelist, any one of the authors of the four New Testament gospel books; one who practices evangelism, especially a Protestant preacher or missionary

 

CENTR center

centralize, consolidate; to bring under a single, central authority; concentrate
centrifugal, moving or directed away from a center or axis
concentric, having a common center
eccentric, departing from a conventional or established norm or pattern
epicenter, the point of the earth's surface directly above the focus of an earthquake
ethnocentric, belief in the superiority of one's own ethnic group
geocentric, having the earth as a center

 

DEM people

democracy, government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives
demagogue, a leader who obtains power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of the populace
demographics, the characteristics of human populations and population segments
endemic, prevalent in or peculiar to a particular locality, region, or people; native to or confined to a certain region
epidemic, spreading rapidly and extensively through a population at the same time
pandemic,

 

GAM marriage

monogamy, the practice of being married to only one person at a time
bigamy, the criminal offense of marrying one person while still legally married to another
polygamy (cf. polyandry) the practice of having more than one spouse at one time
gamete, a reproductive cell having the haploid number of chromosomes

 

HEM(AT), EM, blood

anemia, pathological deficiency in the oxygen-carrying component of the blood
hematoma, a localized swelling filled with blood resulting from a break in a blood vessel
hemoglobin, the iron-containing respiratory pigment in red blood cells
hemophilia, any of several hereditary blood-coagulation disorders
hemorrhage, excessive discharge of blood from the blood vessels; profuse bleeding
hemostat, an instrument or an agent, such as a chemical, that stops bleeding
leukemia, any of various acute or chronic neoplastic diseases of the bone marrow in which unrestrained proliferation of white blood cells occurs

diastole, "through" + "send"; the relaxation and dilatation of the heart chambers, especially the ventricles, during which they fill with blood
