OUTREACH
Special Project linked the University's Strategic Plan Objectives 1, 2, & 3 The Psychology Group: An award winning project designed to provide undergraduate psychology majors of color with the knowledge and skills to succeed in graduate school. The project has received a seed grant from the American Psychological Association Commission on Ethnic Minority Recruitment, Retention, and Training Grant Award program. The project also received the Kent State University 2000 Creative Contribution Award.
Special Presentation1999 Henkels Lecture Series University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN: This is a prestige lecture series endowed by two Notre Dame alumni. Lecturers are chosen via recommendations from nationally recognized experts in the field.
Applied Psychology Center Visiting Scholar 1996 Continuing Education Workshop Counseling African American Families with Dr. Thomas Parham: Planned and coordinated in cooperation with Project Agape and Upward Bound a CEU workshop for Kent State University and the outside community. The workshop was followed by a luncheon, colloquium and meeting with graduate students.
Continuing Education Six week Workshop Spring 1997: Afrocentric Approaches to Child Behavior Therapy: This workshop translated research into practical knowledge that could be used by practitioners, ministers, educators, youth workers. Participants emerged with a project that could be used in their schools or agency.
