UNMARKED POTTERY/DINNERWARE

Ca 1930s-1943, late 1950’s-1960’s

Many potteries in operation in the 1930’s and early 1940’s used a glaze that contained as much as 14 percent by weight of uranium oxide.  When fired at the correct temperature (about 1800°F) for several hours the distinctive bright orange-red color appears.  Some of the pottery produced even by the large manufacturers was not marked.
