Almanacs

home

The almanac is a book or table, containing a yearly calendar of days, weeks, and months, with the times of the rising and setting of the sun and moon, changes of the moon, eclipses, hours of full tide, stated festivals of churches, tables of useful information, weather forecasts, etc. for the year. It is also, a publication containing astronomical and meteorological data arranged according to the days, weeks, and months of a given year and often including a miscellany of other information, and a publication containing statistical, tabular, and general information.

The Writers Almanac

A daily program of poetry and history hosted by Garrison Keillor, can be heard each day on public radio stations throughout the country. Each day's program is about five minutes long—check your local radio listings for the station and time in your area. New almanace entries are added weekly.
